Re: [Harp-L] Huang Reeds

Do you have a set of calipers? If you measure the reed slots, you might find Hohner reeds fit it. If you dig around on Pat Missin's site, he has stuff there that has the reedslot dimensions for numerous manufacturers that will give you an idea of what fits what. Heck, Seydel and Hohner reeds are interchangeable in the lower octave of the standard 10-hole. There's some point where the Seydel reeds get wider, it's maybe around five or six, depending on the type of slot.

Subject: [Harp-L] Huang Reeds

I've asked around about this on MBH before, but I wanna see if anyone else has any input.

For a year or two now I've developed a certain level of fondness for Huang Silvertone Deluxes as a stop gap harp for backups and quick fixes. It's by no means my harp of choice, but I think there are far worse harps made today. No one I've come across yet has had any advice on how to repair/improve/maintain them though. Does anyone know of a harp tech who works on them, a good resource on how to improve them beyond the usual tightening of the reedplates, or somewhere that sells reeds that are compatible with them?
