Re: [Harp-L] Joe Leone Black Market manifesto

Been after this guy for years to let me read his crossbow book or to write something else down, but he never gets past the "aw, shucks" stage. ;) A book of Joe Leone harmonica and life essays would be a great resource. If one reviewed the Harp-L archives, there would be a treasure-trove of such essays, such as "how to make a harmonica reed from a .38 shell casing. Step one: load shell into .38 revolver. Step Two: fire revolver. Step three: extract shell casing..." or "how to make a 7-hole diatonic. Step one: let train run over holes 8-10 on a 10-hole harmonica...." "How to openly get a Vernier sight from a .303 British Enfield rifle through post-911 airport security so you can give it to somebody at SPAH." This would be an incredible collection.
One of my favorite memories was sitting in the Minneapolis Generic House of Pancakes with assorted gang - including the late Chris Michalek - all listening to Joe recite some of his various stories. Whenever Davy Crockett walked into some high-class Washington D.C. party, everything stopped and all eyes and ears focused on Crockett tell his tales. It was like that, only more Italian - and Crockett never had an exploding donkey tale (told at the pancake house). Joe hates to tell it, because he was very fond of this poor donkey that exploded, but it's one of his finest.
