Re: [Harp-L] Tongue Swishing?

Yes Daniel, though it's generally called 'tongue switching'. There was a youtube of Howard Levy recently, playing something in 1st position, where he used
that effect, which I don't believe I have heard him do before. The master was Gwen Foster. This, in my opinion, is his masterpiece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_MTNfkfBPQ
He has a lot more up his sleeve than tongue switching; I know, I've spent the last thirty years trying to get it all!

As I was practicing to Ultimates Jam Tracks' Slow Blues in A, I noticed
that when I move my tongue rapidly side to side over 2 holes (at 1:50 and
2:00) it kind of sounds like piano keys. I think it sounds kind of neat
and was wondering if others use this technique much? I'm mostly a lip
purser but I tried this technique while tongue blocking. Anyway I hope you
enjoy this little improv I call Slow Moonlight Bluesin'.
