[Harp-L] How the Turboslide actually works

The Turboslide is available in a less expensive model employing brass reeds fitted with tiny magnets.  The following is copied from http://www.turboharp.com

The S-20 Turboslide is the latest in our TurboSlide line.

This harp, unlike its big brother, is based on our time-tested S20 body. As a result we have managed to get the price down considerably. Technically, the main differences with the Seydel version (TH-09) is that the latter employs stainless steel reeds which are intrinsically paramagnetic, whereas the S20 uses non-magnetic brass reeds. We overcome this limitation by attaching teeny tiny magnets to the reeds. (Previously, we had coated them with magnetic material.) And as a result, they can be configured either to bend down, or bend up!

This model has an attractive price but I think I'm going to order a Seydel unit to get the full range.
