Re: [Harp-L] VHT Special 6 to tweed Champ mod, and RI '59 Bassman fixed bias to cathode biased self split mod

Thanks Ben

That clip provides a useful reference for the pre-modded amp as I don't have any recordings of mine at that stage.

The VHT is indeed a nice amp...
here you can see and hear me using a unmodded VHT. As you can see I use different cupping techniques during my solo. That's what is most important when you want to make any amp sound good.
The mic I'm using is a Blowsmeaway wooden shell with a vintage Shure controlled magnetic element.

Morning all

I've been working on some mods to my VHT Special 6 - and have set up a simple website to share my findings. Credit must go to Jim Rossen and Mark Burness for much of the thinking behind the mods - thanks

https://sites.google.com/site/tomsharpblog/home

The info is under the 'journal/blog' navigation link.

As noted the sound clips are just fooling around - I don't play unaccompanied much at all and it shows, I was also working on U-blocking technique, and moving on/expanding on the single note pucker style I've favoured until recently. All courtesy of Harp-L posters. The main thing with the clips is to hear the amp tone - which hopefully comes through, regardless of my ability.

The recordings were made on my android mobile, so they're perhaps not as good as they might be - but aren't too bad nonetheless.

I'll post up more stuff in due course.

Regards
Tom
