Re: [Harp-L] Special 20s

Answering your first question...yes, other Hohner harps can be made to be somewhat similar in characteristics to the SP20, but not EXACTLY like it. MB1896's can be fitted with plastic combs and refitted to use screws rather than nails, but depending on the custom comb, you might not get the recession of the holes that the SP20 has. Blues Harps are on the MS line, so you can swap out parts from any other MS harp like Big Rivers, Blue Midnights, and Pro Harps. But if you're looking to put parts from other harps into a SP20 body, it's probably not gonna work out.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the Crossover and Manji both have facial qualities similar to the MB1896. However, the Suzuki Harpmaster and Bluesmaster, all the Seydel Sessions, Bushman Delta Frost, and I guess technically the Lee Oskars are all setup similar to the SP20 in terms of comb face and recession.

I guess technically, you might be able to setup ANY harp out there to be like a SP20's comb and facial characteristics. You just have to check out the custom comb dealers' inventories and see what they have.
