I've always tried to do that unless the particular equipment or venue didn't 
lend itself to that.  I have always felt, that given that the harmonica 
playing is so similar to vocal performance that it should always be mic'd 
through the house PA.  That way you have a better chance that the harp 
breaks, fills, solos will be heard by the audience and the mix between 
vocals, harp and other instruments being mic'd can be adjusted accordingly.
