[Harp-L] Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee concert vid

Just noticed this one last week. Kind of sad to see it only has 16
plays: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vijs5OOqELY. Since both men are
deceased, this is about as close as you can get to catching them in their
prime and playing their "hits". My favorite has always been the very
uplifting "Walk On". I was fortunate enough to see the duo work a half
dozen times. I'll never forget one of my buddies, blues guitarist Jon
McDonald, telling me that they were his litmus test for girlfriends. If he
took a date to see Sonny and Brownie and the girl couldn't appreciate these
guys; then Jon figured that a further relationship was a waste of time.
Because they probably had nothing in common taste-wise.
I recall one evening at the old Quiet Knight in Chicago when Sonny was
late to the gig because he was flying in separately from Brownie. After a
long delay, Brownie or the club owner asked if there were any harp players
in the audience to fill in. Man, I broke out in a cold sweat! I had one
harp in my pocket and had only been playing a year and a half. I started
to raise my hand when, thank God, Corky Siegel stood up in the audience.
Corky played most of the first set until Sonny showed and did a fine job.
A thousand times better than I could've done at that time.
