I agree with Mark. The element is most likely the cause of your troubles. It may just need a little maintenance. I'm currently having similar issues with my JT30 with a vintage Turner ceramic. Main problem I'm having is that the foil diaphragm keeps making contact with other surfaces. I made my own gasket out of caulking cord, which is most likely my issue. Check the element on your T3 and see if there's a similar problem, or if the diaphragm needs replaced altogether.
