Re: [Harp-L] Chuck...learn'n to improv

Thank you everyone for your helpful hints, advice and encouragement. I got real good advice, especially about getting rythym down. I found some internet sites that will help me get a better grasp of rythym. Based on your advice I am doing the following:

1. Practicing a lot more, and focusing on rythym and timing.
2. Being easier on myself and letting "it happen"
2. Getting a Metranome(spelling?)
3. I am setting up priv. lessons via Skype and hope I can have first class late this week or early next.
4. Looking for amp to break up accoustic practicing, add variety and expand my abilities. I lost my Nifty Fifty electrical cord so know have excuse for tube amp (my excuse to wife)
5. Maybe join Barrett's Blues Harmonica online training.

I think if I focus on rythym/timing and less on "correct" notes I can get past my wall. Before I was so focused on hitting correct notes I think I lost track of rythym thing. I think hitting notes will come with practice as I work out rythym.

And lastly, I will join local blues club and try a jam by year-end. This gives me a couple months to work out my issues and get confidence to stand-up front.

Thanks all.

Chuck
