Re: [Harp-L] My explanation of 5th and 12th position for Steve Hellerman addendum

My take is that positions apply to chromatic as well.
I am using bebop tuning, so the solo tuning pattern from holes 4-7 is
altered--instead of C on blow 7, there would be a Bb.
But this doesn't change most of the patterns! Most chrom players don't use
that note anyway, they use the next highest hole for the C.
What can be confusing is that draw bends lower a note, whereas using the
button on a chrom raise it. And of course, there is nothing on a solo tuned
harp like the big intervals on holes 2 and 3 (minor third and major third
difference between draw and blow).
I am always surprised when blues diatonic players express difficulty in
coming to terms with G on chrom, when cross harp is so thoroughly ingrained
in their conciousness.
