One alternative not yet discussed in this thread is tuning the blow 10 reed down 1/2 step, which gives you the major 3rd for the tonic chord in 2nd position.  So on a C harp, you'd tune the blow 10 reed down to B, which is the major 3rd for a G chord.  Very useful.

This retuned reed can be blow-bent down 1/2 step as well.  

This adjustment plus a draw 5 reed raised 1/2 step is a modified Country tuning that I call the "Once In My Life Tuning" because you can play Stevie Wonder's chromatic harp solo from "For Once In My Life" on it.  You can hear it in use at:
