There's no good reason why the XT should sound so lame through the Bose.  I've heard other harp players, like Steve Marriner for example, get good sounds from a POD.  My guess is that you haven't found the settings that will work for you.  

The biggest issue is gain--gain settings that work for guitar are totally unworkable for harp. Try backing the gain down to about 30% of maximum, dial back treble EQ, and keep bass and midrange EQ more or less flat.  Then tweak from there.
