The Fireball is a fine mic ~ for certain applications. 
It's NOT a mic you can overdrive, ( like a decent bullet-mic, or even an  
SM-58 ), with tight hand-cupping for a deep Chicago Blues tone. The  Fireball 
is designed specifically to NOT produce that effect.  Hand-cupping/sealing 
will have little or no effect. I use it when I  don't want distortion.
All is dependent of course on how you're wanting to sound. The other mics  
mentioned will respond to these techniques, although in my opinion the  
Pignose: not enough, and the Roland: way too much, given it's over processed and 
 generally digitallly saturated settings. IF you're looking at a blues sort 
 of thing, a small tube amp will do the trick nicely. At a similar price  
(used, around $100) the Fender Champion 600 with a 12ay7 in place of the  
original 12ax7 tube is a pretty good bet.

I've been using the  Audix Fireball for several years now, and been quite
happy with it. Unlike  most bullets, you don't have to keep your hands
sealed on it to maintain  the sound. It can indeed be used for vocals
(though not one's first  choice). And it has hit the floor on several
occasions; always undamaged,  it's fine, keeps on ticking. Just  sayin....

Hello:

I am a  beginning harpster, and I'm looking for an inexpensive small amp 
and a mic to  go with it. So far, I am considering the Pignose 7-100 and the 
Roland Micro  Cube. Any recommendations about these two, or should I look at 
something  else?

As to mics, I'm looking at the Shaker, Asta tic J-30 Roadhouse,  and the 
Bottle O' Blues. Thoughts?

I apologize if this subject has been  covered before, but I cannot figure 
to how to search this list.

Thanks  very much for helping a  newbie.
