[Harp-L] replaceable reeds

Reed are a wonderful thing. They are also the devil incarnate. I am a simple Harper with a pre war Old Stand By. When I was tuning this harp I found the reeds were as thin as foil as soon as you hit it with the file they crumbled, Did I mention I am also a cheap Harper, I have reed plates with reeds from other harps, that I transfer reeds to other ailing harps.
The long, short reed slots started to come into play, so I put a longer short reed, into a shorter long slot, Got that? Anyway it is the blow reed of a C Harp, C E G, the eighth reed. It started as a B and is now to C, so it is CCG, I don't want to take a whole lot off the new reed, Is there another way or have I just invented a new Tuning? All help very much appreicated Thanks Eric S.
