Re: [Harp-L] Marine Band 365

Todd,

I am a lover of the 364 and 365 models. I have several of each in my collection
and they are by far my favorite harps. They are clear, loud and very
responsive. Their possible drawback is their thickness, but that doesn't bother
me at all. Actually, I don't necessarily prefer them over a ten hole for blues,
but then I don't play much blues anyway. I play mostly first position, since I
play alone. I find them fairly easy to disassemble, clean, and tune. I wish
they had screws and stainless steel covers, but we get what we get. I have
customized several for my own personal use and enjoy them more, especially since
they play so easily and softly after adjusting the gap down a little.

This evening I received and immediately customized my only solo tuned 364. I
have two SBS but, although they are equal with the 365, I don't prefer their
tuning over the 365.

The last three 364's I purchased were manufactured in Czechoslovakia ( I
believe, can't find the box right now, ha ha) and has a different-pleasing-
timbre than the German made models.

I recommend you try one of the 364's in your favorite key, choosing between the
C, G and D. I favor the D then the C over the G. The 365's just have more
holes on the high end, which aren't used often.

I wish they were supplied in all the keys, but with luck I will be successful in
tuning some of mine to the various keys.

I hope this helps.

Does any one here have anything good to say about the Marine Band 365 / 364 /
SBS or Soloist type Harps 12 and or 14 hole Diatonic. Thinking of getting one.
looks like Hohner has recently updated there website since I was there last.
Very nice.
