Amen to that Joe. When I work out a song, I work it out on a diatonic. When I'm finished I feel that there is no way that I would have done it that way on a chromatic. Good feeling cause it's not the same old.... Later, when I play it on a chromatic, I still play it "diatonicly", it just sounds different again. There are so many options, but some are certainly more pleasing to the ear than others.
