Re: [Harp-L] pblic domain

Hello,

I am somewhat parachuting in the middle of this post. Along the thoughts of
John's post, I am adding an additioal question.

For someone who has aspirations of playing SB1, SB2, LWJ, Muddy stuff,
Howlin' and also slide of charlie Patton, Son House, Tampa Red and Fred
McDowell........
At what point in time does it become Public Domaine? How do you know?
Walkin' Blues and Know Your Ryder blues have been played by many musicians!

Now the concern sets in. I am one who has NO interest in writing! I just
want to play the Roots of Blues.

Regards,

Gary C

How old does a song have to be before it is the public domain? Also, about
how much does a club have to pay in royalties if a copyrighted song is
played by a band, and how much of that goes to the song's write? Thanks.
