Re: [Harp-L] Blue Bayou

You want to have fun try this. There are a number of reasons why you might like this. Take a minor tuned harp, where 1 & 4 blow are "G", and play in 11th position (second flat) Key of "F" you said ,right ? Don't let the big number scare you. Try it. Your tonic , or 1 is 3 draw. Guess where 3 (maj) is ? 4 draw. And the 5 of the chord triad ? 5 draw . And the MAJ 7 !!!!! 6 draw ! yep the entire chord using ALL draw notes. Strong bendable notes. And you can get a sound like a chromatic with a 6 & 7 draw trill. 1/2 step apart. Hope this makes some sense. I enjoy doing this once in a while. Have fun. It's not hard,,,
and,,,, no overblows required ! This is playing in a major 7, same idea as a melody maker. Or 1st position on a regular richter tuning.

Thanks Conrad - singer wants F (major) - I believe that's what Orbison did
the original in.
So that would put me obv in F 1st (low F has been suggested to avoid high
octave squeaky factor) and Bb 2nd.

Cool that so many listers like this song too!
