The reeds don't make any difference to rust. Brass reeds don't rust any more than stainless steel and cost less (and are easier to tune and adjust). Mild steel (the rusting kind) is NEVER used for harmonica reeds for obvious reasons. It's the non-reed parts of the harmonica that have the potential to rust - rivets, bolts, covers, and other metal parts that might be made from mild steel.
