[Harp-L] RE: Doing the Impossible - New Sebastien Charlier Album

Ah ah ... excellent!
It exactly corresponds to something I strongly believe in:
Some people can go much farer than others because they don't know there are
things which are impossible!
Sebastien Charlier is definitely a confirmation of this. I don't think he
knew, before working it, that what he does with a harmonica is supposed to
be impossible!
We should all work that way, forgetting that there are things we consider as
impossible or even extremely difficult.

Album, WONDERFUL !!!

Interesting story I heard on NPR about an amazing acoustic guitarist -
unfortunately, I can't remember his name. The story goes that as a
youngster, he was taken by a guitar recording (maybe on a 45 record) and it
inspired him to learn it off the record, even though it sounded very
complicated. Well, he eventually worked it out and it was a basis for his
techniques. It was later that he learned that, on the original record, it
was actually TWO guitar players playing. Since he didn't know this at first,
he didn't realize that it was impossible to play what two guitar players
played on one guitar, therefore, he figured out a way to do it - in essence,
doing the impossible, because no one told him it was....

he does confirm how far it is possible to play
with a simple diatonic, and also not only blues (I like blues a lot) but
also
any kind of music ... No limits !

You are right Jerôme,

I fact I don't know if the interview I made of Sébastien was one of those
you
speak about ;)...but I am ready to translate it into english for our
brothers
and sisters in harmonica :) ... Even if my english is not too good but
sharing
like that is really a pleasure...

I could not tell more than all what you said Jérôme, but really this album
is
amazing also in the means that (I am also a Fan of Howard Levy with its
technics
and when he is playing melodies) he does confirm how far it is possible to
play
with a simple diatonic, and also not only blues (I like blues a lot) but
also
any kind of music ... No limits ! And always keeping to play music ...

Lets see what Curt Bisquera told about Sébastien Charlier way to play (vidéo

with english) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6qYT04sEA0

I am always open for new discoveries especialy on artists which are not from
my
country or my culture... Thanks also to HARP-L ! Anyway if Harmonica is a
part
not negigeable in my culture I think we all have a lot in common here... :)

Patrice Rayon
(for french speakers my loooong article: http://0z.fr/zxxdG that I can try
to
translate for the other harmonica friends)
