[Harp-L] Eden Brent

Phil, you're right, Eden Brent is the real deal!    Dubbed li'l Boogaloo, Eden is Queen of the Mississippi Boogie (she lives in Greenville, MS), and she delivers the good every time she plays.

Eden won the Int'l Blues Competition in 2006, then in 2009 both the Acoustic Album and Acoustic Artist of the Year at the Blues Music Awards, then in  2010 the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year, also at the Blues Music Awards.

Eden often has harp players sitting in with her.   Raised to music, she got formal musical training in college,  then she spent about 16 years with Boogaloo Ames, the King of the Misissippi Boogie, who passed away in 2002, in his 80's.

Eden Brent has tons of moxie you wouldn't expect from such a petite southern beauty.  Her fine jazz piano chops and  her honestly-obtained smoke-and-whiskey voice are world class,  her encyclopedic knowledge of music keeps you amazed,  and her wit and humor keep the room on the edge of their seat, smiling.

Check her out, http://edenbrent.com/  ; Buy her CDs, see her show!

I learned about her when Amazon sent me an email about some blues releases
it thought I might be interested in. Amazon was right, I clicked on her
album  cover and sampled the disc. And I ordered it.

She plays a great blues piano and sings in this captivating smoky voice.
>From the samples I heard, I didn't detect any harp. Which means if you're
ambitious, you can add some as you play along.

Otherwise, just sit back and enjoy.

About 10 years ago, I was a day sponsor at the local Detroit public radio
station and uses this quote:

"A day without the blues is like a day without sunshine."

Couldn't be more true with Eden.

Hope this helps.
Phil
