Re: [Harp-L] test/bcc - response requested

I had no idea that my posts might be held if I included a 'BCC' to myself, and I am surprised that it can even be detected at the receiving end, since it is 'blind' carbon copy. It does not seem like they are, but then of course I don't get to see my actual post - just the BCC.

I am guessing that the problem would occur if it was harp-l that was the on the BCC line but not when it is me that is on the BCC line.

So I have a test of my own I want to conduct: I'd appreciate getting an on-list response to this posting telling me when it was first seen, so I can see what delay is involved. (Of course if you see that someone has responded to this already then please ignore!)

Right now as I press the send button it is 6:54 AM (mountain daylight time) on Saturday Aug 14. Thanks.

Warning, if auto bcc uses blind carbon copy to get the message back to you
the post will be automatically held. All bcc messages get held as do any
messages with more than 3 recipients. For instance replying to a message
that already has one address in the cc list will get the list reply held.
Not forever mind you. The held posts are always sent but there can be a
delay of up to 24 hrs depending on the timing of the post. Why do we hold
bcc's and multiple recipient posts? Let's just say there is a really good
set of reasons and that these simple rules have saved us from myriad
  posting disasters. harp-l-listowner
