Now, this is interesting. Most bend down until hitting the "floor" of the note room, creating a note that is almost 1/4 tone flat. The few pros that bend to pitch have a quality to their sound that sets them apart from the rest - for a good example, really listen to Rick Estrin, especially his 2 hole inhale 1/2 step bend and whole step bend. Aside from sounding traditional, it is also most musical.


Bending notes: Each note needed to be hit to perfection.  When using his 
sliding notes technique you will see why it is so important.
