[Harp-L] Re: New Orleans Blues spots?

David, I was down there this past labor day weekend and had a blast!
I have a friend that lives there and knows allot of the local blues
cats there so it was easy for me to get up and play. I played with
many of them during that weekend. The musicians there are first rate
and the bands are very tight. First, go to the Blues Club on Bourbon
Street and see if you can sit in with Rooster. Rooster has a nightly
gig there from 4-9PM. Rooster is an old school bluesman and is quite
a character. If you get up there then you should be able to go up to
the Coco Club (on Bourbon) and sit in there because it will be some of
the same musicians playing there later at night. Once they get to
know you and know you can play they will call you up. You can
probably catch some blues at the Sing Sing as well. There is an open
mic on Sunday nights at a club on Frenchmen Street. I cant remember
the name of the club. Frenchmen Street is like a mini Bourbon
Street. Have fun !!
