From time to time, i have said that the most limiting aspect of a diatonic harmonica is not the lack of a complete chromatic scale, but the inability to "build" chords.

From my perspective, the practical application of the stuff you and Winslow have recently been sharing with us is that it gives diatonic players a more sophisticated way to make note selections for soloing, instead of just playing the same old scale tones or arpeggios.
