Re: [Harp-L] How to tell a guitar player how to swing?

Hi Michelle,

You might ask him to practice with some recordings of your choosing.
It takes a while to get the feel of any new music. Hey, you mentioned
Colorado: round up some Western Swing music and ask him to play to
that.

I actually encountered an opposite situation when I used to play
guitar with "Old Timey" fiddlers in Idaho. One group got a little
upset beause they said I was swinging and syncopating. I tried to pay
more attention to their rhthym and straighten up.

I had no problems with another group; but, when I attempted some
fiddle tunes on harmonica, one of them said, "Hey, let's swing that
song like Eric". Some habits are so ingrained.

I'm not behind the beat, I'm just slow.
Eric
