Not sure why this is such a mystery. It's all explained in the owner's manual.

The left knob controls lower frequency feedback, the center knob is for calibration purposes, and the right knob controls high frequency feedback.

Advance the knob in the clockwise direction to tame feedback.

that's kind of the problem.  nobody seems to know what the knobs do.
everyone i've asked says pretty much "just mess with them until you
like the sound".  even among the earlier posts in this thread you
could discern several different theories about what they do.
