Re: [Harp-L] Learning, Grammar and Theory

I've noticed this in attitudes by musicians that feel it important that they
be treated as superior beings - that ol' human emotion of needing to feel
important through external perception of others rather than feeling comfortable
in all situations in their own skins.

The educated and theory soaked musician may act superior towards those lower
down on the food chain, sometimes suggesting there is an exclusive inner
club or clique comprised of other like minded insecure theory soaked musicians.

It is more a personal statement of insecurity than anything else, imo, and I
have learned to observe this behavior rather than get personally upset or
involved, raising an eyebrow just like Charlie Musselwhite does when he is
amused with what he sees around him.

Why would any of us as musicians have contempt for
other musicians? I'm truly baffled by this concept.
