[Harp-L] Buddha Harps...over blows & over draws

I have been messing with the incredible batch of Buddha harps that I got a
while back from Chris Michalek aka Groovy Gypsy. It really is a learning
curve for a honker like me to deal with the tight tolerances of a harp set
up to do the "over thang". When I dial it back a bit and focus the over
blows just pop up so clean and sweet. It's the over draws that really can be
a challenge for me no matter what I do. Tonight I made an interesting
discovery. The over draws work much better for me if I tongue block them.
It works for me, thought maybe others might want to try this approach.
Perhaps this is already a common practice for the "heavy hitters". I have
always been a "hybrid" player no matter what harp is in my face. I switch
from pucker to tongue block often depending on the key of the harp and the
tune I am playing. Never an exact science. After 35 years of
blowing, things just happen inside my mouth that I have no control over.

I must say that these Buddha harps really are a work of art. I dig the
custom colored combs as well as the superior reed work. I bought mine before
the free lesson thing came into play. Thank God. The last thing I want to do
is make a long distance call to Arizona and take Mr. Buddha Breath to
school.
