Re: [Harp-L] Sugar popping n

Just rewatched Angel Heart last night - spooky voodoo and devil movie starring Mickey Rourke. There was an authentic blues scene in a juke joint - back up band was stellar old Chicago blues guys with a very young and skinny harmonica player - Sugar Blue.

I think the Sugar Blue connection may be stronger with Popper than with Ricci -
and Popper obliquely acknowledges the connection; I don't recall Jason having
done so.

By the way, Sugar is working on a new CD. I understand that he recently wrapped
up the recording part.

To my ear, the playing of both JP and JR sound as if there is a strong Sugar
Blue influence, whether either of them acknowledge it or not. If we are talking
about speed with strong technique and musical note selection, the discussion
should properly include Sugar Blue. Credit where credit is due.
