[Harp-L] Re: Set lists

One thing that touches this subject is the "credibility" of songs. Three
songs that are frequently covered by live bands are "Sweet Home Chicago",
"Mustang Sally" and "Stormy Monday Blues". I have had all of them on some of
my few set lists. Many blues harp connoisseurs consider these to be the most
unwanted titles and would rather not see and hear them on live sets.

On the other hand, the majority of most audiences loves these songs. That is
simply because they are clever compositions with a wide appeal. That is not
a reason, IMO, to underestimate these titles. There are plenty of other
songs during most live gigs that only the more orientated blues fans can
relate to. I'm not giving a thumbs down when a band plays one or more of the
aforementioned songs.
