[Harp-L] help in wiring cm dual impedence mic element

Yesterday, I found a Shure 444D Desktop Stand, with a 99S556 Shure CM element. It is one of the dual impedence U.S. made ones, and it is mounted in a plastic shell and stand. I cut off the stand, and want to use the plastic shell. I thought I wired it right, but the mic hums through my Kalamazoo unless, I touch the plug on the 1/4 cable i am using. I know this is a grounding issue, but what am I supposed to ground the element to? Looking at the element, I wired the right wire to the tip, and the lower left wire to the sleeve of the jack. Right? I did not connect the upper left to anything, as I think that is the low impedence connection.

I should know this, but I must be lacking sleep.

I am pretty sure that Greg Heumann gets tired of answering these questions, but he is great about doing it.

Thanks in advance, anyone
