RE: [Harp-L] Charlie McCoy and the Nashville Number System

<---This answers a question I had...wasn't Charlie a music major in college? So, even though he changed <majors, it would be safe to assume that Charlie reads and has a pretty solid knowledge of music theory?

Charlie is a very knowledgeable musician. When I did a session with him and James Cotton for Oak Publications in 1979, Charlie walked around the studio playing every instrument in the place. He knew chord theory (for instance, he knew when he was playing a major 7th) and how to read music.

He has raw talent to burn, of course. But it takes more than raw talent to get to the top of the studio game in a place like Nashville, where raw talent is everywhere. It takes brains and focus, too. Charlie's got plenty of those.

He's a master.
