One of the best books I have ever read is The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel
Ruiz.  It's a kinda Zen thing.

It's unfortunate that you let some other moke who was having a crap-fest
slap your Mojo.  But it happens.  That wasn't about you, Abner.  It was
about him.  The Second Agreement is, Don't take it personally!

So go play in the woodshed for a while, getcher groove together and when you
go back on stage, nobody will be able to slap your Mojo.  And when some moke
having another crap-fest throws you the rope to his drama, don't grab.  Just
let it fall.  And smile!
