Re: [Harp-L] choose new harp

Yes, we have a newbie. Fresh new meat to grind... ha, ha,ha,he,he,he

Morning fishmong3r
I'm also a newbie, scratch that I up graded myself to a beginner.
I only have one Horher Special 20. This is the harp I practice with a lot, the one I carry with me all the time. Its a very good harp for newbie's to learn with.
Most of the learning material (cd,DVD, books) use the key of "C".
It also seems that most music stores carry this harp.

I have heard that the Suzuki Bluesmaster is a very good harp. You can probable order them online.
Coast2coast.com
rrmusicforless.com ( so far I found this site to have a good prices, Have not bought from them Yet, but I will )

So here is my advice...........
Buy a Suzuki bluesmaster ( should run you about $25 )
Check out the above two sites, trust me their are a bunch of sites you can buy from.
Buy a harp in the key of "C"
Start of slow, take your time, learn each step, know each step before you go to the next. Play, Play, Play and have fun, lots and lots of fun and practice, practice, practice. And never forget to have fun and play.......

Just keep in mind I'm learning and teaching myself to play, and I don't have the grand knowledge that a lot of other guys have.
I still don't have that bluesy sound but that wont stop me.
I do get frustrated, but that wont stop me.
I do not have any musical knowledge and that wont stop me.

  Subject: [Harp-L] choose new harp

  Dear Musicians,

I'm a very big fan of all blues music and I'd like to try playing harp. So I
  have to buy one.
I don't want to spend much money but also don't want to buy something what's
  totally unusable.
I've read a lot of forums and sites about this and I have three options
  (just diatonic):

  1. Hohner Special 20
  2. Hohner Big River
  3. Suzuki Bluesmaster

I couldn't find the right price harps in Lee Oskar and Hering.

So my first question: Which is the best for a newby from the above harps, or
  not from those?
Second: I've read many times that C-key is good for new players, because of
the training stuff on the internet. Is that correct? I mean which key would
  you advise for me?

  Many thanks for your help.

  Regards,
  fishmong3r
