[Harp-L] Low cost tube amp from Crate

While shopping for a small practice amp at Sam Ash yesterday, the salesman
directed my attention to the new Crate V18-112. He said they were blowing
them out at $149. Initially, I was inclined to decline; but then I looked a
little closer.

The Crate V18 is, as the more sophisticated readers might have already
deduced, an 18 watts amp with a single 12" speaker. Other features include:
dual cathode-biased EL84 tubes, Gain, Level, Treble, Middle, Bass, spring
reverb controls, and line out jack.

It's an exceedingly simple, single channel amp. I figured for the money, it
was worth giving it a whirl. Bearing in mind that I'm not a technically
savvy amp user, it sounds great to me. I'm comparing it to my Fender Blues
Jr., which is a 15 watts, 1x10 amp that cost $380.00.

By itself, it's got a great vintage sound, and coupled with my Kinder Anti
Feedback Plus it's even better. Either way, for the money I think it's a
very capable, low cost, great sounding amp for harp.
