No, Jim, I don't wish. I've finally found somebody to study. I'm gonna study what he's doing. There's not many people doing this.

”On Lonesome Moonlight, that's pretty much what I envisioned myself learning
to do, using the chromatic to mimic the mandolin, then with diatonic rhythm
chops as rhythm.”

>Is that some kind of backhanded compliment? I don't think he needs it.

No. I'm saying I'm going to study how he does Lonesome Moonlight.

>P.S. Vern gave you some very good advice - which you disingenuously asked
>for for with "ears open"

Nothing disingenous about it. That post has been saved for future reference and it has and will continue to be referenced.

"I like to play bluegrass with some blues and a rock beat in it."
>When does that occur?

I'm talking about stuff like “Rocky Road Blues” the Bill Monroe Jimmie Rodgers remakes, etc. I'm trying to find the things I want to be doing and study those.

Jim, if you're going to rip me, tell me I suck, etc. please do so OFFLIST.
Have you ever seen me post anything that I actually could play on Harp L? I can't remember posting anything at all before, but if I did, it would have been something different I was trying that guys on the list could help me with. What good does it do me to post something that I can do well?
No matter how hard I try or how long I try, there will always be guys on this list who play much better than me I can learn from. That's what I'm trying to do, Jim, and I hope you just got up on the wrong side of the bed or something or assumed I meant something that I didn't.

Dave Sr.

>O.K. I found a starting place.<

You wish! I think you might want to back track just a bit to find a
"starting place" that's comfortable for you.

>The stuff he's playing isn't really the stuff I'd be playing,<

Goes without saying!

>I like to play bluegrass with some blues and a rock beat in it.<

When does that occur?

Is that some kind of backhanded compliment? I don't think he needs it. But
on a positive note,  thanks for pointing out this very interesting player.

O.K. I found a starting place. David Naiditch. His Web site says he took
lessons from Sonny Terry and Cham Ber Huang, chromatic harmonica bluegrass.
The stuff he's playing isn't really the stuff I'd be playing, I'm more into
that embryonic Rock n' Roll stuff Bill Monroe was playing in the 1940s... I
like to play bluegrass with some blues and a rock beat in it. The one
exception of his stuff was "Lonesome Moonlight Waltz" I was really getting
into that one.

I'm gonna check to see if he's got a CD with a Jimmie Rodgers remake or
something... On Lonesome Moonlight, that's pretty much what I envisioned
myself learning to do, using the chromatic to mimic the mandolin, then with
diatonic rhythm chops as rhythm.
