Re: [Harp-L] Weber 5F2H Harp Amp

Ohhhh yeah! The 12F125-0 is a good one with very big low end! Check this
out....I made a 5F2H with 2-10's...1--10F150-0 and 1--10A150-0 and an even
slightly bigger OT. I made it for the hell of it because I took my friends
Twin 12 Danelectro with Green Back Jensens and jumped it over......WOW!
Massive tone. The Greens sounded better so I took the amp apart and just
went with one 10A150-0. The low end is so big it could really use a 5C3
Champ or a Kazoo as a pre amp. Hmmmmm......About that time I was hit with a
divorce.....LOL.....maybe that's why I never did it.
The mojo is back, so I think I'll give it a go because my friend has that
amp.

The PJ: I know about those mods to them...I've done a few several years
ago. If one can find this amp used for cheap and knows how to lower the
power supply dropping resistor, change out that horid speaker, put in a .1uF
coupling cap and through in one of Ted's Copper Cap Rect Module then it's
pretty good amp for a low 100 bucks with speaker. If I remember right,
Ted's 10A100 fits. I like those speakers for breakup and fat tone.

THe KT66.....I remember that one because I bought the very first kit from
Ted and it didn't fit with the 10A125-0. I was pissed because I was the
freegin' guinea pig and it should have been thought out a little better. I
gave him the measurements, but he decided to go higher rather than move the
speaker hole over. He wanted to use the same mold to accomodate several
different amps in his kits. This amp would sound just as good with a
smaller cab. One just needs to make his own hole in the front and use a
smaller cab.

OT's? Mercury Mag., Hoffman, Gerald Weber....off the cuff. You know you're
getting good stuff. Better yet, I'd get a vintage one that still works that
coincides with the specs.
You can always chat with Bruce Collins and see what he would do. You otta
pay a visit to his site.....www.missionamps.com......It should be the same
as before. He doesn't like cheap parts and will steer you right. He told
about his dual KT66 mods he's done for alot of harp players and the result
was "very very greasy"....in his words. After that 5F2H, I don't doubt him
one bit.
cheers
