[Harp-L] Harmonica for Dummies Review....

I recently purchased a copy of Winslow's new book from my local Borders Book
Store. I made the purchase for a number of reasons. 1) Winslow is a great
guy and a friend and I wanted to help support his success in my own little
way. 2) I am a self taught harp guy who by the grace of God has progressed
pretty far by a lot of trial and error. I am on a mission to "back track"
and figure out how I do some of the things that I do that happened by
accident 3) I am looking to do more teaching especially for kids and
beginners. I have seen and own a number of other harp instruction books. I
wanted to see how Professor Yerxa approaches the subject especially when
targeted towards dummies. I seem to be good at attracting "dummy" students.
It can be so frustrating to have students come back week after week and not
break through the "walls". I know that I can't be that bad of a teacher
because I have had some positive success stories. It's just that some folks
(dummies) seem to need a little creative / divine intervention.

As I read the book I can't help but smile. I like the flow and style of this
read. Winslow done good! I also can't help but smile as I think back to this
last SPAH in St. Louis when Winslow joined Madcat, Kaleena and I at the FM
classic rock radio station for the live show. I let the cat out of the bag
on the air that the book was coming out soon for Winslow. After that Winslow
spouted out some pearls of wisdom and the DJ "Smash" instantly dubbed him as
the "Professor" of our little group! Yes indeed, Winslow is worthy of the
title of Professor. He would have been much more fun if he was cast on
Gilligan's Island instead of that "other dude". I can see the episode now; a
crate of harmonicas washes on shore and Gilligan and the rest of the crew
take lessons from Professor Winslow! Winslow proceeds to go crazy trying to
teach Gilligan the king of tropical dummies. Then I see the finale of the
episode when the Professor puts on a show at the Luau using half of a
coconut shell as a mute as he serenades and seduces Mary Ann back to his
hut!

Thanks for the book and the fantasies Winslow.
