[Harp-L] Re: Seeking ideas to increase SP 20 comb mass

Will,

How about weighing down the reedplates instead? Lots of flat
surfaces to which you could affix strips of brass from old reedplates- less
fiddly and would weigh up faster than messing with combs. Or you
could try double reedplates. You can even trim an
upper reedplate to fit inside the cover and just double the blow
plate.
Or even just the lower 5 holes. I've had positive results doing this on lower keys, and
it's something I do optionally on my customs.

I AM NOT RE-RE-RE-OPENING THE COMB MATERIAL DEBATE!

That said . . .
I am looking for a dense, non-toxic, readily available material to
pack my Special 20 combs. I am willing to seal the material in with
Micropore or the
like.

I do not think this will affect the tone--that's not my purpose.
I like SP 20's with my mods. I would just like to feel some more
mass in my
hand--purely for comfort.

Any Ideas?
