[Harp-L] Re: Harp-L Digest, Vol 57, Issue 36

Hello, 46longblake.

Here are two reputable sources for antique harmonica information:

_www.patmissin.com_ (http://www.patmissin.com)

_www.harleysharps.com_ (http://www.harleysharps.com)

The Hohner Super Chromonica 12-hole slide chromatic harmonica #260 1/2 was
made from the mid- 1920s to the present day. It's the world's most copied
slide chromatic harmonica, and probably the world's most popular.

It's catalog number has been changed, from #260 1/2 to #270, but today's
#270 Super Chromonica is identical to the #260 1/2 made in the past. Everything
is the same, except the slide return spring was an exterior one, in the
1920s, and was changed to an internal spring in the 1930s.

Today's Hohner #260 is called the Chromonica, and it has 10 holes. The
Chromonica has gone through at least two, maybe three note placement changes since
it was first introduced in 1910 or 1911. The Chromonica is not the Super
Chromonica.
