Just heard CR for the first time in a long time the other day. Still my
all-time favorite harmonica composition....it's not even close for me,
really.

To answer your question, though he doesn't play it in this key live anymore
(or so I read somewhere),  the original recording is 3rd position key of C,
B flat harp. But hitting that first bent note precisely is a real challenge.

 Enjoy. One of these days I'll work up the courage to try to do it live. But
listening on my computer as I type, to even come close I'd ned a very
excellent and very jazzy band to play it with, including a great pianist, as
the magic of the song, for me, isn't in the Harmonica pyrotechnics, but in
the songwriting, arrangement, and THEN what charlie does with it to raise
the hairs on your neck....... I don't think I can pull it off in a
duo.......
