[Harp-L] Re: Take Five

The original key for Take Five is Eb minor. I play this one in 3rd position on a Db harp. No overblows necessary, but a lot if tricky bending.

In my trio Triple Play (with Chris Brubeck) we've transposed the song to the key of A minor to make it more guitar friendly, and I play it in 3rd position on a G harp. The Triple Play version is on our CD Triple Play Live. I also recorded it on the first Madcat & Kane CD (Key to The Highway) but that CD is out of print.

Flavio Guimaraes from Rio de Janeiro Brazil has also made a fine recording of this song as well.

I think the song is in Eb, so if you're playing it on a Db harp, that puts you in third position.
Some guys (Madcat?) prefer to play that tune in 5th position and say they don't need any OBs, but require good bend control...

I stumbled onto playing Take Five on a Db harp.
Starting note is Bb. What position is that? Thanks, Ole
