Re: [Harp-L] Topic: Sampling and Looping systems advice?

What you need to go out and busk Son of Dave style, is a loop station, and a battery powered amp. Run the loop station into the amp, play a short rhythmic phrase, hit the pedal on the loop station, and that phrase will repeat. Add several more on top of that, using percussion, or other instruments, and you'll have a nice wall of sound around you, that you can improvise off of.

The Boss RC-2 is the pedal I use. It's about $175.00, and runs off a 9 volt, so you can use it without power. The amp I use is a Peavey Solo Portable Sound System. I got turned on to this amp by Jimmy Lee. It's solid state, but for some reason, it makes for a killer harp amp. Believe it or not, it sounds better than my Kalamazoo, and completely blows away anything made by Pignose.

Here a youtube clip that shows a guy using a loop station, if you'd like to see one in action.

Google and check out "Son of Dave"... He uses an effects loop and
he's very different and entertaining !

Not sure what effects loop he uses, but I recall seeing a brief
close-up in one of his YouTube or Myspace videos.

Sidewalkbeggar sounds like he's using an octaver effects box as well.

Here's a few links for Son of Dave:

Topic: Sampling and Looping systems advice?

Hello Everyone,
This is a first time for me to place a question to HarpL
participants.
My enquiry is:
Can some one help inform me on the best and easiest to use
..'Looping' /Sampling system for me to add to my
ongoing creativity and solo shuffle playing.

I recently have had the pleasure of contact with Chris
D'Errico [Las Vegas] www.myspace.com/sidewalkbeggar.
after a quick listen to his tunes... I think he's
great. I've heard others doing similar human beatbox +
harmonica/jawharp things but i havn't had the heart to
ask about what equiptment they prefer to use to create this
one-man band style.

Can anyone out there please give some suggestions on how to
put a simple [possibly budget priced] system together?

Thanks very much,
billy James
