I was just looking over the Australian harmonica collection of a Mr. P.
Withers, and came across an 8-pointed Hohner star on the bottoms of three
examples of Hohner Tango tremolos:

veeeeeeeery light and veeeeeeery sturdy. i have zero problem walking all

also: i do have a shelf thing that fits on a mic stand for actual gigs when

just bringing this case. it truly is incredible!

The cd is called 'The Extremist". i have 3 cd's of his that came out after
Flying.. there is a self titled cd that is all blues. Joe Satriani blues mind
you, he has his own style, but i love that cd. more mellow and very bluesey.
he has a very blues influenced style anyway. i was inspired to try more harp
in rock songs that my band plays after hearing his harp work.

video for a song called the Extremist. It had him playing harp on it. Then I
remembered back to his Flying in a Blue Dream album that had lots of harp on
it. I even remembered him talking in a guitar magazine about the probability
that he will never be that great at the harmonica because of TMJ syndrome. The

these are the dimensions of the inside bottom portion of the case:16x12.
the dividers can be positioned in several ways. i have a 5x16 area in the
back for additional harp storage, leaving the front area for mic and cord.
there is a see thru zippered flap under the top of the case where you could
store another 10 harps. i throw several cds in there.
i dont play chromatics anymore, really. i prefer minor key harps and
bending notes all over the place. but you certainly could get at least 4 in cases
in my 5x16 section. or you could move the divider forward to give additional
space, as my mic and cord could easily give up another 3 inches.
i just happen to have ALL my harps and new bullet, and have space to spare.
got a late 50's rca chrome bullet i gotta get repaired...then i'll carry 2
mics w/ no trouble at all.
my favorite feature is the top...ez access to harps!

Hello, Jim Alciere.

Do you have the traditional music notation Magic Dick transcription for
Whammer Jammer? I have the tab version, but I'm a traditional note reader.

The tab is too confusing for me, and it would take a long time for me to
accurately notate the Magic Dick version (the J.Geils' Band arrangement)
from
the recording.

If you do have the traditional music notation arrangement, could you send
an
e-mail or snail mail copy? I've been looking for that arrangement in
traditional notation for years.

If you don't have traditional notation for Whammer Jammer, do you know
where
I could find it?

Thanks for "reeding" this.

John Broecker

There is no musical score for "Whammer Jammer" that I know of -- and I just
searched the web at the usual sheet music sites. I have searched for it in
the past without any luck and never found any sheet music for it.

So your best bet is to do it yourself -- convert it from the tab. See
Coast2Coast web address below.

And then when get done converting the tab to notation; look up Adam Gussow
web site. What doesn't make sense to you in the tab may be cleared up by
Adam's
lessons. He breaks down the tune and also had a long interview with Magic
Dick.

The tablature was created by Rick Barker.

Disclaimer: I almost published it in American Harmonica Newsmagazine several
years ago after getting permission from Rick Barker to use his tab -- but
decided against it because of copyright considerations (who owns
it/published it
and did we REALLY have permission from them).

I printed it on a Mac G5 and so I got all the border index/phone numbers and
other ad blurbs: the "Whammer Jammer" tab section of the page amounted to
postcard size on a letter size sheet.

Here's an interesting side story that is probably only interesting to me.The
first version of " Whammer Jammer " that I heard was by Mark Wenner and the
Nighthawks on an album called " The Nighthawks Live at the Pysche Delly"
from 1976.

I'm working on a series of videos on how to play over Stormy Monday.
Just about every harp player I have heard play this tune misses the
changes, now you don't have to be "one of those guys"

Part one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8Ky2umBtQE

The Garden is back up and running. My board was hacked a few months
ago and got really screwed up because of it. I just installed new
software and migrated the database to the new forum. I'm still
working on features and attachments (old ones need to be re-uploaded)
but it's fully functional now and people can register. Sorry it's
been down for so long.

Please let me know if the Stormy Monday vids make sense to you. It's
hard to walk the line of keeping things really simple and making
sense.

Yes, I know I sound drunk.

Enjoy.

Dave Barrett has a tab with musical notation at

Look under free gifts...

Of course, you have to buy something to get a free gift.
