Re: [Harp-L] new youtube vid on vibrato

the technique works on EVERY note. You should be able hear it in the
sample of my playing. In the first clip of my playing on the A harp,
there is a spot where I do a deep bend on blow 10 and then add vibrato
to cover up the intonation issue.

My biggest issue was making the video and being satisfied with it. I
must have made 20-30 videos. Most of them were much longer. I went
through every note but then started thinking who the hell is going to
sit there and watch that? Then I had issues with the playing, me
stumbling all over myself and my "devlish good looks". I made a couple
that I thought were pretty good and realized I wasn't wearing a shirt
and hadn't showered. I mean, I had serious issues! LOL. The biggest
thing with being in AZ is the heat and unless you want to pay $800/mo
on AC bills you keep your house at about 82F and wear less clothing.
If I can get over the nausea I might make an addendum to the video.

BTW- the technique also work with tongue blocking. I demonstrated it
in my earlier renditions but cut it out because I'm not a fabulous
TB'er and because I thought it was overkill. I'm generally of the
mindset that playing music and getting the notes matters more than HOW
you get them.

It's before 5am here at the moment, I have to train dogs to bite
people before it gets too hot and then I have plans to make another
video on getting a full acoustic tone, perhaps then I'll demonstrate
more on the vibrato again. Note to self: Wear a shirt and take a
shower.

One last thing, what ended up working best for me in making these vid
was my digital camera. It's just a little Casio Exlim but it will
record 10minutes of video. I was quite surprised that it sounds and
looks ok.
