[Harp-L] Re: Break Through a Wall

Hello, Will. Happy New Year.

Here are a few ways to break through a mental wall. Remember, "where there's
a WILL, There's a way".

Philosophers would say, to break through an impenetratable mental wall,
these are your choices:

1. Don't try. Stay where you are. Play familiar tunes, scales, etc. until
they are perfect. Do what you do better, long enough, and the wall will crumble.

2. Don't try. Retreat, study something that's fun. Relax, forget about it.

3. Don't try. Go around the wall. Find a different path that is achieveable.
Your goals are achieveable with a new viewpoint.

4. Don't try to "bust through". Stay where you are, and chip away or gouge
at the wall, slowly, one goal at a time. Focus on one concept. Be stubborn.
Practice it until you get it. Who's stronger, the mental wall, or you? You are.
Once you achieve a small hole in the wall, it will feed your confidence, and
you'll keep chipping away.

5. Don't try going through the wall. All you'll get are bruises. Try
climbing over it (step-by-step), or digging under it (learn a new way to achieve
your goals), or try jumping over it (get an instructor to boost you over the
top).

Best Wishes.
