Re: [Harp-L] Has anybody tried the Hohner Marine Band Deluxe?

I've been playing Marine Band Deluxe harps since they came out, and yes, the first few did de-laminate on me (Yuck), but Hohner replaced the combs for me. More recent purchases have not had this problem.

I adore the Marine Band sound and think Hohner did a great job with these harps in that they are assmebled with screws, have open backs, rounded tines and other very nice custom-like touches.

However, though the tuning has always been to my liking, the reeds are not set up like a custom harp. I have modified all mine somewhat with reedwork (slot embossing, arching reeds, re-gapping etc.) and have set them up for overbends. They are not nearly as nice as some of the awesome customs I own, but are far better than anything I could do with a regular classic Marine Band.

I have not found any Hohner Marine Band Deluxe harps around Denver, and I'm
too impatient to order one. Have you played this harp? Is it worth 50
bucks, in your opinion? Does the wood comb swell at all?
