[Harp-L] I want to be famous

Whether this thread is a spoof or not, I guess all of us who are old enough
to have sense enough would discourage any youngster from trying to make a
living - much less get rich and famous playing the harmonica.
The two leading harmonica players in this fair land, who enthusiasts like
myself will travel the length of the country to hear both have (as far as I
know) day jobs.
The harmonica is a minority instrument. Maybe that is one of its appeals for
us as it makes us feel a kind of elite with a taste for something the
"common herd" does not appreciate.
There is only one good reason for playing the harmonica - that it turns you
on. If you are good enough to have someone actually pay you for playing it
even in the form of a few beers that is a bonus.
And yes there are Irish single malts - just as good as and probably more
cost effective than their Scottish equivalents.
Irish Whiskey became devalued during the years of prohibition because of the
toxic swill being dispensed in the speakeasies of the time masquerading as
"Irish Whiskey".
